Hungarian Opening: Dutch Defense

Hungarian Opening: Dutch Defense is a chess opening with the ECO code A00, part of the Hungarian Opening family. It goes 1. g3 f5. White opens with 1. g3 (the King's fianchetto) and Black answers 1... f5. After 2 moves it is White to move. About the Hungarian Opening

White starts with 1.g3 to fianchetto the bishop at once. It is flexible and can transpose to the English, Réti or King's Indian Attack.

• Bg2 controls the long diagonal and the centre from afar.
• White chooses c4, d4 or e4 later, depending on Black's setup.
• Black can grab the centre with ...d5 and ...e5; White then hits it.
