Play online in one tap, learn with a voice coach, solve unlimited rated puzzles and review every game. Free, with every feature unlocked.
chessGM is free chess in your browser and on your phone. Play live games against people from bullet to classical, or take on human-like bots with their own styles and openings. Solve rated puzzles, the daily puzzle and Puzzle Rush, learn openings with step-by-step courses, review every game with the engine, and practise with a voice coach that speaks English, Bangla and Hindi.
Play live games against people at every pace from one-minute bullet to classical, with ratings kept separately for each time control. If you would rather not face a person, play one of the human-like bots: they range from a beginner who hangs pieces to grandmaster strength, and each has its own openings, style and think time.
Train with rated puzzles sorted by theme (forks, pins, skewers, mates in two and many more), a new puzzle every day, Puzzle Rush against the clock and Rush Battle against other players. Learn with free skill courses that start at how the pieces move and go up to strategy and endgames, and with opening courses that teach each line move by move, then drill it with spaced repetition.
After a game, Game Review goes through it move by move: your accuracy, the best moves, your mistakes and the rating you played like. It works for chess.com games too, with no limit. The analysis board lets you explore any position with the engine, the video maker turns a game into a short clip, and teachers can run a live class for their students on one shared board.
chessGM is made by 22Softwares, a small studio. We want a chess app where learning is part of every game and nothing is locked behind a subscription, so every feature is free for everyone. The site is paid for by a small number of ads, kept on menu pages and away from the board, so a game is never interrupted. Our own chess engine, written in Go with a neural network we trained ourselves, powers the bots, hints, reviews and the voice coach, which speaks English, Bangla and Hindi.
Plain-English articles on the rules, openings, tactics, endgames, famous games and how to train, each with board diagrams and links to practise what you read.
