Hungarian Opening

Hungarian Opening is a chess opening with the ECO code A00. It goes 1. g3. White opens with 1. g3 (the King's fianchetto). After 1 move it is Black to move. The lesson on the board explains every move of the line and lets you play it yourself; it is free.

About the Hungarian Opening

White starts with 1.g3 to fianchetto the bishop at once. It is flexible and can transpose to the English, Réti or King's Indian Attack.

• Bg2 controls the long diagonal and the centre from afar.
• White chooses c4, d4 or e4 later, depending on Black's setup.
• Black can grab the centre with ...d5 and ...e5; White then hits it.
