Grob Opening: Zilbermints Gambit is a chess opening with the ECO code A00, part of the Grob Opening family. It goes 1. g4 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Nc3. White opens with 1. g4 (the Grob move) and Black answers 1... d5. After 5 moves it is Black to move. After the last move Black is a pawn ahead in material. The moves
1. g4 – White plays the pawn to g4
1... d5 – Black plays the pawn to d5
2. e4 – White plays the pawn to e4
2... dxe4 – Black captures on e4 with the d-pawn
3. Nc3 – White plays the knight to c3
About the Grob Opening
White starts with 1.g4, an offbeat and risky move. The idea is Bg2 pressing on b7 and d5, but it weakens White's kingside.
After 1...d5 2.Bg2, White attacks d5 and may play c4.
The g4 pawn can be attacked by ...Bxg4 or ...h5.
White should not castle kingside too fast; the king can be exposed.
