In-between moves, part 2 is lesson 5 of 8 in Quiet moves, a tactics course suited to players rated around 1400 (club players). Before you recapture by reflex, look for a stronger move in between (the German zwischenzug): a check or a threat first, the recapture later. More positions, a little harder. It has 6 interactive exercises: 6 calculated lines from real positions. You play every move on a board and get feedback straight away. The lesson is free.
What you practise
Black to move: find the in-between move. (3 positions)
White to move: find the in-between move. (2 positions)
White to move: mate in 5.
