Stalemate turns a won game into a draw, and it can also save a lost one. Learn to spot it, to avoid it when you are winning, to use it when you are losing, and the other ways a game is drawn. This is a basics course with 3 lessons and 6 interactive exercises, suited to players rated around 600 (beginners). Every exercise is played on a real board with feedback after each move, there is nothing to install, and it is free.
Lessons in Stalemate and other draws
Stalemate or not? – Stalemate means the side to move has no legal move and is not in check. The game ends at once, as a draw.
Saving a lost game – When you are losing, stalemate is your friend. If your king has no moves, try to get rid of your last pieces.
Other draws – Stalemate is not the only draw. Know the others, so you can aim for them when you are behind.
