The moves

2. Bg5 – White plays the bishop to g5
2... e6 – Black plays the pawn to e6
About the Trompowsky Attack
After 1.d4 Nf6, White plays 2.Bg5 at once, threatening to take on f6 and damage Black's pawns. It avoids a lot of opening theory.
Bxf6 gives Black doubled pawns but gives up the bishop pair.
Black often replies 2...Ne4, attacking the bishop, or 2...e6.
...c5 and ...Qb6 hitting b2 is a common counterattack.
