Neo-Grünfeld Defense: Ultra-Delayed Exchange Variation is a chess opening with the ECO code D79, part of the Neo-Grünfeld Defense family. It goes 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nf3 Bg7 4. g3 O-O 5. Bg2 c6 6. O-O d5 7. cxd5 cxd5 8. Nc3 Nc6. White opens with 1. d4 (the queen's pawn) and Black answers 1... Nf6. After 16 moves it is White to move. About the Neo-Grünfeld Defense
Black uses Grünfeld ideas (...g6, ...Bg7, ...d5) when White has played g3 or f3 instead of Nc3. Black still attacks White's centre.
