Chess clubs on chessGM bring players together around a school, a university, a city or a group of friends. A club has its own page with announcements, a members' chat, events, tournaments, a leaderboard and an about page with its rules. You can browse the featured and popular clubs, the clubs near you, and search every listed club by name, university or city, without an account.
How to join a club
Find a club in the directory: search by name, university or city, or filter by country, language or campus clubs.
Open its page to read the about text and the rules. In open and approval clubs anyone can see the posts and the leaderboard.
Press Join. Open clubs let you in at once; approval clubs send your request (and your answer to the club's question, if it has one) to the admins; invite-only and hidden clubs need an invite link from a member.
How to start a club
Any player whose account is at least three days old and has five rated games can start a club; one person can own up to three. The wizard takes four short steps: a name and web address, a logo, cover and colour, the country, city, languages, time zone and university if there is one, and an about text with up to fifteen rules. At the end you get a share link and a QR code to send to your members.
What a club can do
Announcements on the club's home page, with pinned posts and tournament results posted automatically.
A members' chat with replies, mentions and moderation tools such as slow mode and timed mutes.
Events (meetups, lessons, voice rooms and tournaments) that members can RSVP to and add to their calendar.
Club tournaments in Arena or Swiss format, and a leaderboard by blitz, rapid, bullet or puzzle rating or by tournament points this quarter.
Club battles against other clubs, as a Team Battle Arena or a board-by-board match, and a ranking of clubs by battle results.
Roles: an owner, admins, moderators for chat and requests, and organisers for events and announcements.
University clubs can earn a verified campus badge once five members have confirmed their university email.
